Cotton is added to the reverse side of the raw silk, eliminating the unique drapey feel of raw silk and leaving the smoothness and other qualities of the fabric untouched.
The fabric has a smooth texture.
Due to the characteristics of the fabric, neps may appear in large quantities, and thread fluff that is different from the main body color (tobikomi) may be mixed in.
The fabric is made in such a way that the unevenness of the dyeing process is deliberately created.
The nep tends to gradually decrease after repeated washing.
