Linen is often regarded as one of the world’s oldest natural fibers. This summer knit is crafted in its natural flax color, showcasing the material’s inherent beauty.

While linen is typically scoured, bleached, dyed, and spun during production, this yarn retains its original, untreated color—known in Japanese as ama-iro (flax color)—highlighting the authentic character of the fiber.

Using traditional Japanese yarn-making techniques, the fabric overcomes the twisting and care challenges often associated with linen knits. The yarn is twisted to its limit, creating a crisp, dry touch that is ideal for warm-weather wear.

This exceptional twist is achieved through mizuyori (water twisting), a rare technique still practiced at the last remaining water-twisting mill in Shiga Prefecture, a region renowned for producing traditional crepe fabrics. By twisting the yarn while it passes through water, an ultra-high twist can be achieved, resulting in enhanced stability and comfort.

Retaining linen’s natural breathability and dry texture, the knit is also suitable for home washing. With wear and repeated washing, it gradually softens and conforms to the body, making it a new staple for summer wardrobes.
